Wilson Joins OSCAAR Tour Part-Time for 2012

With twenty years of Late Model racing experience in his back pocket, Owen Sound, Ontario native Doug Wilson is joining the OSCAAR
Super Late Model tour for the 2012 season. After a career that has been spent mostly at Sauble Speedway, Wilson has decided to fulfill
a desire and race with the outlaws. However, the former ALSTAR series driver is no stranger to touring series both as a driver and as a
crew member after he travelled with Brandon Watson’s CRA Super Series entry south of the border last summer.

Barton Advances Career to OSCAAR Modifieds

The OSCAAR modified series is still a week shy of its first ever event, but the series has already earned a reputation as a highly
competitive series for drivers hoping to move up the ranks of Ontario short-track racing. Matt Barton is among those drivers that will
be racing a modified for the first time ever when the green flag drops on May 20 for the inaugural OSCAAR Modifieds race. The New
Hamburg, Ontario native has spent the last two years in Legends car both in Ontario and Michigan, but this season will pilot a modified
formerly driven by Delaware Speedway’s Tony Viera. Barton, who is a former champion of the Hurricane Midgets touring series in Ontario,
felt that his promotion to the OSCAAR Mods this season was an obvious decision.

Burrows Ready to Tackle 2012 Season

With the inaugural OSCAAR Modified’s season set to kick off in just over two weeks, Chris Burrows is among the drivers itching to get
back to the track. The third generation driver will pilot the #63 modified and enjoy sponsorship from Fox’s Bakery, Burrows Boyz Racing,
Sef Form Hassel Auto, and Knightworks Design for his 2012 campaign. Burrows is racing out of the Burrows Boyz Racing stable which hopes to
have as many as six Modified’s at select races and four on a regular basis. After taking the majority of the past two seasons off, the former
Barrie Speedway and Sunset International Speedway four-cylinder champion is excited to tackle a touring series in 2012.

Beyore Returns for Championship Run

After a one year absence from the OSCAAR Super Late Model Tour, Mike Beyore will be returning for a full campaign in 2012. Beyore is
among a long list of veteran drivers returning after varied lengths of absence from the series. Beyore, who finished third in the
overall points standings in 2010, is energized about his return. The #54 Cadillac of Beyore has been in race ready condition since
January, but Beyore assures that the car has gone through a number of changes since it last hit the track at Sunset International
Speedway in 2010.

Burke Joins OSCAAR Mods from Lucas Oil Sportsman Series

After running Late Model stock cars over the past four years in Ontario, Tim Burke is moving to a brand new OSCAAR modified for the 2012 season. Burke raced a Late Model at Peterborough Speedway for three consecutive seasons before moving to the Lucas Oil Sportsman Series last season. Burke is excited about moving to the new OSCAAR division for 2012 and says that the management behind the series was one of the main reasons he decided to join the club.

Law joins Super Late field for 2012

Veteran Ontario late model racer Paul Law is joining the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model tour for the 2012 racing season. Driving his familiar #72 Midas of Orangeville, Ron Little Trucking, Hawk Shop Chevrolet Impala, Law will be competing in a touring series for the first time since a stint with the American Cup Lite tour in the early 2000’s.

Bowman Brings Experience for ‘Rookie’ Season

After 15 years of Late Model racing throughout the province of Ontario, Jim Bowman is making the transition to run a full-schedule in 2012 with the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Models. Bowman will be driving the #63 Re/Max Canada, Cash Inn Loans, TMG Mortgages, Hanover Holidays, Grisdale Racing Products Chevrolet Camaro. The Fergus, Ontario native is the third generation of Bowman’s in Ontario motorsports as his uncles Lloyd and Albert have both raced stock cars, while his father Roy raced a font-engine dragster.

Dean Scott Joins OSCAAR Mods Field

Veteran stock car driver Dean Scott is making the transition to an OSCAAR modified for the upcoming 2012 season. The Woodstock, Ontario native will be driving the #19 Little-Tracks Petting Zoo modified, but says that a major sponsor is pending. Scott has raced hurricane midgets, modified’s, and most recently quarter-midgets in up-state New York. Needless to say, Scott is not unfamiliar to open wheel racing.

OSCAAR eager to start 2012 season after CME

Less than a week removed from the conclusion of the Canadian Motorsports Expo at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario and it feels as though the OSCAAR season should be starting in the next few weeks. But there remains just over three months until opening night at Sunset Speedway on May 20. Nonetheless, preparations are well underway for both series officials and drivers alike. After convening at the CME for three days from February 10-12, the excitement for the 2012 OSCAAR season was clear given the number of visitors that stopped by the OSCAAR booth over the course of the three day exhibition.

Gruntz Jumps to OSCAAR Modified’s for 2012

Josh Gruntz is stepping out of his thunder car and moving up to an OSCAAR modified for the 2012 racing season. Gruntz of Peterborough, Ontario is making the jump to the newly sanctioned OSCAAR Modified’s after just two years behind the wheel of a thunder car at Kawartha Speedway, where he finished 8th in the championship points standings in 2011. Gruntz explained that Modified’s have always been one of his favourite short track classes.

Rob Poole Makes the Jump to OSCAAR for 2012

After 13 successful seasons as a competitor at Sunset Speedway on Saturday nights, Rob Poole has decided to make the jump to Ontario’s top asphalt touring series, the OSCAAR Super Late Models. After finishing third in championship points at Sunset Speedway in the limited late model division in 2011, the Cookstown, Ontario native decided he and his team needed a new challenge.

Modified Racing Association (MRA) joins with OSCAAR

OSCAAR Outlaw Modified’s Inaugural Season Schedule Release

2012 marks the inaugural season for the recently formed OSCAAR Outlaw Modified touring series. The series’ first season will consist of 11 events at six different facilities. Of the 11 races, seven will be in conjunction with OSCAAR Super Late Model events. The Modified’s will run the same format as the Super Late Models that includes heat races followed by a feature event that will typically run 30 laps.

Consistency is the key to success in any kind of racing, whether it is as a competitor or as a series, and has historically been the success of the OSCAAR Super Late Models. The 2012 edition of the OSCAAR Racing Schedule looks very similar to that of 2011, but with a few slight adjustments that offer new and exciting opportunities to the drivers, fans, tracks, and the series. The 2012 season will consist of 11 points events, and 1 non point’s event.

OSCAAR OUTLAW MODIFIEDS

OSCAAR Banquet Brings 2011 Season to a Close

Top-10 Points Re-Cap: 1st – #22 Glenn Watson

The 2011 season brought Glenn Watson his fourth OSCAAR championship in as many years, but this season was different than the past three. Watson was absolutely dominant in 2011, winning the championship over runner-up Jeff Dunford by 761 points. Take in to consideration that a driver can earn a maximum of 330 points in one night if he were to win both heat races, the feature, and lead the most feature laps. Watson finished 11 of 12 races in the top-five, with the other a top-ten finish. Watson won seven of twelve races in 2011, leading the championship standings for the entire season.

Top-10 Points Re-Cap: 2nd – #7T Jeff Dunford

Five races in to the 2011 OSCAAR season, Jeff Dunford looked to be completely out of the championship picture. Mechanical difficulties plagued Dunford for the first half of the season, putting him at an early disadvantage. Hard work and a bit of good fortune turned the season in a better direction for the Castrol Canada #7T team. A string of top-ten finishes in the second half and a podium finish in the season finally earned Dunford the runner-up spot in the championship standings for the second year in a row.

Top-10 Points Re-Cap: 3rd – #62 Lloyd Ritchie

Lloyd Ritchie is one of OSCAAR’s most recognizable faces with one of the most distinguishable cars. Ritchie’s bright ‘Orange Blossom Special’ has become a staple on the OSCAAR Super Late Model tour each and every summer, making him a fan favorite. A resident of Southampton, Ontario, Ritchie faces some of the longest travel times of any driver. The dedicated driver, however, never lets that phase him and participated in all 12 events in the 2011 season, accumulating nine top-ten finishes, of which seven were in the top-five.

Top-10 Points Re-Cap: 4th – #07 Todd Campbell

One of the most pleasant surprises in the 2011 OSCAAR season was the success of rookie contender Todd Campbell. The well-respected driver from Guelph, Ontario moved to a Super Late Model after winning various awards at Flamborough Speedway in a late model over the past few seasons. The learning curve was not significant for Campbell who captured the Inside Track Motorsport News Rookie-of-the-Year title as well as 10 top-ten finishes while competing in all 12 events this season.

Top-10 Points Re-cap: 5th – #00 Wayne Isaacs

A fifth place finish in the 2011 OSCAAR points’ championship does not tell the full story for Wayne Isaacs. Isaacs had his best season yet with the OSCAAR Super Late Models in 2011 and was in contention for the overall championship until personal reasons forced him to miss the final two events of the season. Nonetheless, the season was an exciting one for the Brampton, Ontario native and included debuting a brand new car for the season’s second half.

Veteran OSCAAR driver Gary Passer surprised himself this season by placing in the top-10 in championship points. The Innisfil, Ontario native ran his first full season in Ontario’s top division following two partial schedules in 2009 & 2010. Passer narrowly missed finishing in the top-five in the points standings following an impressive record of two top-five and five top-ten finishes.

The 2011 class of OSCAAR rookies was one of the most competitive groups in recent memory and Tyler Hawn is no exception to the statement. The Oro Station, Ontario native was keen on winning the Inside Track Motorsport News Rookie-of-the-Year title and while Hawn fell just short of his goal, it was certainly a positive learning experience. Hawn did attain his goal of finishing in the top-ten in OSCAAR points.

One of the many underlying stories in the 2011 OSCAAR season was the return of veteran driver Dave Taylor. Taylor was absent from the racing scene for a total of 12 years, with the exception of driving a Late Model in Flamboro Speedway’s Triple Crown event three times. Taylor burst back in to OSCAAR and proved that he could be competitive each and every week. Taylor explained his return was a family affair.

For Brandon Watson the 2011 OSCAAR racing season was a roller coaster ride that saw more highs than lows and resulted in a tenth place overall points finish. The Stayner, Ontario teenager ran a two-thirds schedule (eight of twelve events), in which he posted five top-five finishes and six top-ten finishes.

Watson Wins Classic, also Crowned 2011 Champion

PETERBOROUGH, On – Glenn Watson finished the 2011 season on Sunday afternoon with his seventh OSCAAR feature win of the season, claiming the overall points championship in the process. The now four-time champion had already locked up the crown prior to the start of the event, but made sure to end the season on a high note. Watson started from the inside pole position after drawing the number one starting spot in the invert draw after being the number three qualifier following Saturday’s heat races.

OSCAAR Season Finale Set for Autumn Colours Classic

Peterborough, ON – The final leg of the twelve stop OSCAAR Super Late Model tour is upon us this Thanksgiving weekend. The fifty-lap season finale is part of the 19th annual Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway. The 2011 OSCAAR Champion will be crowned at Peterborough and it will be the fourth straight for Glenn Watson, as Wayne Isaacs sits too far back to catch him, regardless of Sunday’s outcome. The Inside Track Motorsports News Rookie-of-the-Year award will also be awarded, this year to Todd Campbell. Even with many award winners already decided, expect nothing less than the best racing the series has to offer all weekend long. Every driver wants the bragging rights for the winter months and to call themselves an Autumn Colours Classic champion in the OSCAAR Super Late Model division.

McGlynn Wins Battle of Flamboro – Doerr Wins War

(Hamilton, ON) – The Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup presented by Tirecraft, rolled into Flamboro last Saturday night, October first for the final event of the 2011 championship season. The title would be decided between point leaders Jay Doerr (#40) of London, who entered the night with a nine-point edge on ‘The Wild Child’ Shawn McGlynn (#81) of Kitchener. While others were still mathematically alive, it would essentially come down to the two former champions to decide the crown. The other point battle was for third as Josh Wood (#66) of London, and Matt Robblee (#51) of Dorchester, entered the night deadlocked.

Ritchie wins first ever OSCAAR feature at Peterborough

The winds of change were blowing on a hot and humid night in Peterborough Country and at the end of a 50 lap feature it was Lloyd Ritchie who stood in victory lane for the first time in his OSCAAR career. Lloyd has been a runner-up several times in his career, including a second place finish at Kawartha on June 3rd of this season, but was never able to claim the top spot until Saturday evening. Ritchie’s success started with first and fourth place finishes in his heat races, leading him to pull the pole position in the invert draw.

Lucas Oil Series Championship Leader Doerr Wins at Delaware

The Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series presented by Tirecraft stars and cars were on hand at Delaware Speedway to headline the Saturday night show at the traditional Labour Day Spectacular weekend. The 100-lap main event would be ended early as rain started to fall just after the halfway point, with 2010 series champion, and point leader Jay Doerr (#43) of London at the front of the pack.
